Emergency Fundraiser for Maha Shabat in Gaza
I am starting this fundraiser for Maha Shabat, a woman in Gaza who has been enduring unimaginable hardship since her hometown, Beit Hanoun, was destroyed. She has been displaced nearly ten times. In the chaos and destruction, she has lost her home and more than 50 family members — including her brother and, most recently, her cousin, the journalist Hossam Shabat.
Maha is now the sole caregiver for her sick parents and her young nephew Mohammed, who still dreams of a life beyond the devastation. Several more of her family members are currently sheltering in a school, and she is trying to support them all with extremely limited resources.
Funds from this campaign will be sent directly to Maha via a trusted family friend, Mohammed, who has safely delivered funds to her before. The money will go toward food, medicine, and other essentials for survival. If there is any remaining, Maha plans to buy clothing for the children in the camp where she is now displaced. She never asks for help for herself — only for those around her.
